CONSTRUCTION & TRADES COMPLIANCE
The Building Safety Act has raised the stakes.
Is your compliance position ready for what comes next?
The Building Safety Act 2022 changed compliance obligations for contractors and developers across England. Gateway requirements, the Building Safety Levy launching October 2026, and tighter HSE enforcement mean the cost of non-compliance is higher than it has ever been.
We help construction firms and trades across Surrey identify their compliance exposure before HSE, the Building Safety Regulator or a client audit does it for them. Fixed-fee audit reports. Plain English. Based in Guildford.

What the compliance landscape looks like for construction in 2026
Construction compliance in 2026 is not just about having a RAMS file. The regulatory environment has shifted significantly since the Building Safety Act and the associated secondary legislation.
Here is what we check in every Construction Compliance Health Check:
Our Services And What We Cover
RAMS and COSHH
Risk Assessments and Method Statements must be task-specific, current and signed by the operatives on site.
Generic or copied RAMS are one of the most common HSE enforcement triggers.
Subcontractor compliance
CIS registration verified before first payment. Insurance and competency checks documented. Waste carrier licence in place and waste transfer notes retained.
Building Safety Act
Gateway 2 (before construction) and Gateway 3 (before occupation) apply to higher-risk buildings. Building Safety Levy applies to most residential developments of 10+ dwellings from 1 October 2026.
Site documentation
Site diary, accident and near-miss log, scaffold inspection records, toolbox talk records. All of these are standard HSE inspection requests.
CDM Regulations 2015
Principal Designer and Principal Contractor must be formally appointed where 2+ contractors are involved. Construction Phase Plan required before work begins.
Insurance validity
Employers’ Liability minimum £5m required by law. Public Liability typically £2m+. Check renewal dates and confirm coverage extends to all contract values and trade types.

“My job is on-site, not filing drawings. We were constantly dealing with issues from old drawing versions. Heighton Ltd stepped in and now handles all our document control.
The efficiency gain has been remarkable — it’s like having a full-time office manager without the overhead.”
