Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t see your question here, book a free 30-minute call and ask us directly.
Question 1: What's the difference between a Compliance Health Check and a compliance partnership retainer? Answer: A Compliance Health Check is a one-off, fixed-fee audit, we review your current position and give you a written report with a prioritised action plan. A Compliance Partnership retainer is ongoing monthly support that keeps you compliant going forward: tracking renewal dates, monitoring regulatory changes, and managing your compliance documentation day to day. Most clients start with a Health Check, then move to a retainer if ongoing support makes sense.
Question 2: Do I have to commit to a long contract? Answer: All plans run on a 3-month minimum term, enough time for you to see a genuine difference in your workload. After that, you can cancel with 30 days’ written notice. There are no hidden fees or exit charges.
Question 3: How do I know how many hours I need? Answer: A Compliance Health Check is the best way to understand your current position and what level of ongoing support, if any, would help. Or book a free 30-minute scoping call and we'll talk through your situation together.
Question 4: What happens if I use more hours than my plan includes? Answer: We’ll flag it before it happens. If you consistently need more hours, we’ll recommend moving to the next tier. Any agreed overage is charged at £45 per hour and confirmed in writing before the work is done.
Question 5: How do you handle my confidential business information? Answer: Heighton Ltd is registered with the ICO (Ref: ZB868639) and operates fully in line with UK GDPR. All client documents are stored in a dedicated, access-controlled SharePoint folder. We never share your data with third parties without your written consent.
Question 6: Do I need to be based in Surrey to work with you? Answer: No. We work entirely virtually, so we can support businesses anywhere in the UK. That said, our particular strength is in Surrey and the South East, we know the local market, the local contractors, and the local property landscape.
Question 7: Can I start with a one-off project rather than a retainer? Answer: Absolutely. The CQC Compliance Pack, the Renters’ Rights Act Transition Pack, and the bespoke RAMS and tender services are all available as standalone projects. Many of our retainer clients started with a one-off project first.
Question 8: What software and systems do you work with? Answer: We work within Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Planner) and are experienced with Cliniko, WriteUpp, Heydoc, Xero, and most standard CRM and project management platforms. We adapt to your systems, not the other way around.
Question 9: Are your template documents legally compliant? Answer: Our construction compliance templates are prepared in line with current UK legislation including CDM 2015, COSHH Regulations 2002, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. They are guidance tools, always ensure documents are reviewed for site-specific conditions before use. We are not solicitors and our templates do not constitute legal advice.
Question 10: How quickly will I get my Compliance Health Check report? Answer: Your written report is delivered within 5 working days of your audit session. We then schedule a 45-minute debrief call to walk through the findings together and agree your priorities.
